House Speaker Mike Johnson has released a list of endorsements in support of his bid to retain the leadership role within the House Republicans, two weeks ahead of the leadership elections scheduled for November 10. The upcoming elections will determine whether the GOP will maintain its narrow majority and elect a new speaker if they remain in power.

Johnson has garnered statements from several former congressional members and conservative leaders, who praised his leadership over the past three years. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich highlighted Johnson’s ability to restore unity and legislative effectiveness, stating, “With extraordinary patience, astonishing discipline, a refusal to get mad at people and a daily working partnership with President Trump that won again and again when defeat seemed certain, Mike created a record for legislative effectiveness that is historic.”

Other endorsements include quotes from Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, America First Policy Institute interim president and CEO Greg Sindelar, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist, CatholicVote CEO Kelsey Reinhardt, Election Integrity Network founder and chairman Cleta Mitchell, and America First Works president Ashley Hayek. Johnson also expressed hope that House Republicans will keep the majority after November 3 and that he would remain speaker.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen Nov. 4. … If I were a betting man, and I’m not, I would put all the chips on me being speaker of the House in a Republican majority,” Johnson told Punchbowl News. “I don’t think it’s going to be a red wave election. I don’t think we’re going to have a 20-seat majority, but I believe it’s going to be the majority. … I think they would expect me to continue to keep this thing going.”

Democrats need to win at least four seats to take the majority. Cook Political Report shifted 19 House races toward Democrats, including several Republican-held seats, less than two weeks before Election Day. The race to oust Democratic Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar in Texas’ 28th district shifted to “Likely Democratic.” The Congressional Leadership Fund canceled approximately $3 million in planned advertisement spending against Cuellar while the incumbent held a 20-point lead in the polls.

The Congressional Leadership Fund also slashed $6 million in planned advertising in Florida’s 25th district, where Republicans aimed to oust Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz. Meanwhile, the No Going Back PAC, a super PAC backed by MAGA Inc., planned to spend $6.3 million in the district. Other races in Texas’ 34th district and North Carolina’s eleventh district shifted from toss-ups to leaning Democratic.
