A 15-year-old boy was arrested Sunday following a mass shooting that left 12 people injured after a homecoming game in Tallahassee, Florida, officials said. The suspect, Anthony Rivers III, was charged with 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent in connection with the shooting, a Monday statement from the Tallahassee Police Department said.

Victims and Investigation

Of the victims, six were adults, and six were juveniles. Three of the victims were seriously injured, a preliminary report found. Police said the shooting followed a fight and that they believe none of the victims were the shooter’s intended targets.

The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. near Bragg Memorial Stadium, only a few hours after a Florida A&M homecoming game, Fox News reported. “What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families,” Chief of Police Lawrence Revell said in a statement. “While this arrest marks a significant step forward, our work is far from over. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and getting answers for every family impacted by this tragedy.”

Community Support and Ongoing Investigation

As the investigation continues, the police department said witness tips and digital evidence played a vital role in Rivers’ arrest. Police said additional arrests may be possible as detectives continue to pursue leads and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We need our community’s help. No detail is too small, and no piece of information should go unreported,” Revell said. “If you know something, please share it with our detectives. Your information could be the key to holding those responsible accountable.”
