Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has denied using an alias in the United States, responding to a recent federal court filing that referred to her as ‘Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,’ the same last name as her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. The filing has reignited long-standing allegations that the congresswoman may have been married to her brother.

Omar Clarifies Her Identity

Speaking to FOX 9 News, Omar stated, ‘My name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.’ The congresswoman, who was born in Somalia, also noted that her name appears as ‘Ilhan Omar’ in her junior-year yearbook from Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Court Filing Sparks Controversy

A court filing from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro mentioned Omar under the name ‘Ilhan Nur Said Elmi,’ which has led to renewed scrutiny over her personal relationships. The filing referenced a federal search warrant for the personal residence of ‘Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.’ This has raised questions about the connection between Omar and her ex-husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

Public Statements and Media Reactions

During an interview with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes, Omar was asked if she was related to her ex-husband. She responded, ‘Not to my knowledge,’ a statement that went viral online. Following the interview, Fox News Digital reported that federal officials involved in an immigration investigation stated Omar’s real name is ‘Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.’

Recent Home Raid and Legal Actions

Omar’s Washington, DC, home was raided by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents this month, with 17 items seized. Reports indicate that agents were able to collect DNA from Omar before the raid, adding to the ongoing legal and personal scrutiny surrounding her case.
